Check back here regularly to find out what's going on in the Massey Hill community!
On April 9th, 2024 the MHCW voted to move to bi-monthly meetings. We will try this format for the remainder of 2024. We still provide monthly activities for our youth with the Massey Hill Tigers program, our National Night Out with our law enforcement in August, and our Massey Hill Fun Day which occurs on the last Saturday of the month. If you see suspicious activity please report it to 911. We need all hands on deck to help pull our community away from the ones who are engaging in illegal activity. Most of all, PRAY for Massey Hill.

The Massey Hill community watch was very active in 2023, however, sadly it seemed that we lost some ground with our youth as we saw an increase in youth criminal activity, and as with a lot of our older communities, we find that we still struggle with crime and blight. There are a lot of slumlords that have certain areas of our community wrapped up and we hope and pray they would do the right thing and take care of their property. By asking for a background check, and stipulating there is to be no drug or criminal activity on the premises, this would help our community so much. We know this is not a quick-fix solution and involves many different aspects, however, if property owners take care of their rentals it would help us tremendously.
In 2023 we worked on building our relationship with the newly appointed police chief. We appreciate Chief Kemberle Braden's approach to being proactive instead of reactive. Under his administration, we are starting to see lawbreakers being held accountable for their actions. The police are doing traffic stops again and working our area and we appreciate it so much!
Shotspotter was also installed in the Massey Hill community in 2023 and we welcomed it! We welcome this lifesaving technology because no one should ever be afraid of getting shot in their community!
2023 also saw a great partnership between our community and Manna Church. Manna has adopted our community and has committed to assisting us with monthly revitalizing outreaches, we look forward to seeing the Spirit of GOD move in the Massey Hill community in 2024!
2023 also saw a new council member for our area. Shakeyla Ingram lost the position to Malik Davis. We look forward to working with Malik and we thank Shakeyla for all of her hard work.
Finally, we saw an increase in participation in our Tiger's youth program and we look forward to seeing how GOD will use this program to impact our young people's lives. This program meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 4:30 -6:30 PM at our recreation center and we teach cooking and other positive concepts to our youth. There is no cost for the children.
Community safety is a team effort, each resident plays a vital part. If you see something suspicious please call 911 and report it and please take some time to invest in your community by attending one of our meetings.
Together we are making a difference! Sometimes we have setbacks but we never give up!
